The multipurpose WPM200 Felt-Tip Mallets are a cross between timpani mallets for concert orchestras and bass-drum mallets for marching bands and field bands, giving you or your students the option to use them for playing multiple instruments.
With their felt-wrapped round heads, these mallets are soft enough to be used safely on percussion traditionally played with the hands such as bongos and congas, including those with sensitive natural-hide heads. Yet they are articulate enough to be used to achieve unique, mellow tones on tuned instruments such as marimbas, glockenspiels, and vibraphones. Their accentuation of lower frequencies also lets them produce a lighter, slower attack on suspended drumkit cymbals, gongs, and bells.
For a comfortable, natural hand grip that feels like you’re holding drum sticks, the shafts are thickest at the handle end. And with 15 inches of length, they make it easy to achieve proper beater positioning on a wide range of large drums. The striking end of the handles is slightly tapered for balanced weight distribution and precise stroke control.
Cork at the core of the heads provides outstanding bounce, enabling you to generate various levels of projection and sustain by altering the velocity of your hits. To ensure consistent contact from every striking angle, the heads are evenly rounded without any flat areas.
Lightweight solid-wood handle construction delivers strength for hard playing and durability you can rely on for long-lasting performance.
