DJ Your Own Wedding – Microphone Tips

Have you ever wondered what to do to when using a microphone at a wedding or at the reception and you find that the microphone keeps Feeding back (squealing) ?  We have all heard this noise at different events and it is incredibly annoying.  This is caused by a couple of different things that I would like to explain to you to make your next DIY DJ project go much smoother for you.

One of the main things that causes Feedback is the microphone being able to see the speaker.  Think of the microphone as a flashlight or an eyeball… if it can see the speaker it is much more likely to feedback.  What do you do to prevent this ?  You need to move the speakers in front of the person using the microphone.  IE… if you have a DJ booth or area set up… make sure the microphone is behind the speakers.

The other issue that commonly occurs is when the microphone is to close to the speakers.  You can solve this problem by simply moving the microphone or the speakers farther apart from each other.  The more distance you can achieve between the microphone and the speaker the better off you will be.

OK… now go ahead and don’t be afraid to grab that microphone and make your favorite uncle or brother give that goofy speech.  You can now be assured it wont feedback and squeal so you will be able to hear all the inspiration advice they have to give.
